Why I Wax Instead of Shave

When I was 13, my mother begged me not to shave. “It’ll make your legs prickly; here, feel mine,” as she rubbed my hand over her cactus of a leg. My alternative was Nair. However, I was allergic to just about everything Nair was made of except the bottle, so shaving it was. Three years later, I was at the beach when a friend noticed my unsightly bikini bumps. “Oh my gosh, that looks like the surface of Mars, do you not wax?” I had never considered waxing before, but after my first bikini wax, I was hooked. Pretty soon I started getting Brazilians, and then I started waxing my underarms, and before I knew it, I was waxing just about everything. Waxing is addicting; once you have baby soft skin, you’ll never go back to your mother’s prickly cactus legs. In fact, now my mother waxes too.

Our location on Campus at FSU is now open. We are happy to say our newest location at SouthGate FSU, 675-2 West Jefferson St., is now ready to serve you. As always, you can call, drop in or book online at www.brazilswaxingcenter.com .

To park at SouthGate FSU, student parking surrounds us, metered parking is available on Pensacola and the faculty parking at SouthGate entrance is open after 5:00 and on weekends. But, the SouthGate bus stop is just across the street and walking is a possibility as we are centrally located to campus.

Don’t Be a Cactus

You may think it is just easier to shave. Think again. Shaving creates “Hair Spears” that immediatly begin to grow back, thicker, stronger, and Prickly! Don’t be a Cactus. Waxing removes the hair spear by the root leaving smooth, soft skin and the hair takes longer to return.

Disadvantages of Shaving:

It’s easy to cut yourself, even if you are careful, and razor wounds tend to bleed heavily. Of course the wound can also become infected.
Razors can become easily contaminated with bacteria and viruses, such as staphylococcus, which can cause serious infections which require medical attention.
You have to do it often, sometimes daily, depending on your lifestyle, the season, and how coarse your hair is.
Hair grows back quickly, and appears darker and thicker due to the blunt cut of the hair.
You can get unsightly razor bumps/burn, which is actually an infection of the hair follicle. This infection can get worse and spread.
